• Must have proof of English competency. A foreign student must have a minimum score of 550 for the paper based TOEFL or 213 for the computer based TOEFL or 79 for the internet-based TOEFL or an IELTS score of 6.5 (Academic Module).
• Applicants must arrange to be tested by an approved TOEFL or IELTS agency in their country. Applicants should do this at least two (2) months prior to the beginning of the semester at Columbia Bible College. This will allow time for the results to be returned to Columbia. Acceptance at Columbia will be dependent on receiving these test scores.

The requirement for TOEFL or IELTS test results may be waived if the applicant has met the following conditions:

• The applicant has completed three or more years of study at either a secondary or post-secondary institution (in the United Kingdom, The Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Jamaica or an accredited international school with a North-American curriculum where English is the primary language of instruction).
• The applicant has successfully graduated from a North American high school and successfully completed ENG 12 (or its equivalent in any other province/state) with a final grade of 65% or higher.
• The applicant has studied for at least one year at an accredited North American post-secondary institution and successfully completed an English Literature, Composition or Writing for College course (or its’ equivalent) with a final grade of 60% or higher.

The Admissions Committee may also evaluate English proficiency on an individual basis by requiring that the applicant write an entrance examination.

Please note that international students must:

• Must submit a $450 application fee (this application fee consists of a $150 processing fee + $300 deposit and replaces the $50 application fee mentioned above for domestic students).
• For September entrance, must submit all required application documentation before June 1. For January entrance, must submit all required application documentation before October 1.

Anyone wishing to study in Canada who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident must obtain a study permit before entering Canada. Those students in Canada on a visitor's visa must leave Canada and re-enter with the Study Permit. Depending on your country of citizenship you may also be required to obtain an entry visa. Students should contact the nearest Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate once they are accepted to Columbia Bible College. Find Canadian Embassies around the world.

To obtain your study permit, the following documentation will be required:

• Offer of admission to Columbia Bible College and information about the expected time to complete the program.
• Evidence of adequate funds - the visa officer will expect you to be able to support yourself (and family where applicable) during your program of study. You may be required to bring financial documents to prove you have the necessary funds (bank statements, scholarship & bursary awards and/or pledges of support from other organizations/individuals).
• Return ticket or evidence that funds will be available for that purpose.
• Proof of medical clearance (depending on country of residence).
• Proof of a minimum of 3 months of health insurance to cover your initial time in Canada.

Once this documentation is in order, Canadian Immigration authorities will issue an entry visa and study permit or letter of introduction. If you are given a letter of introduction, you should give this to the Immigration Officer when you enter Canada and they will issue the study permit.

If you have a spouse and/or children and your spouse and/or children accompany you, you must apply for their immigration documents at the same time. If your child/children will be attending school (grade 1 and above) you need to apply for a study permit for them also. A letter of admission from the school is not required. If your spouse intends to work in Canada, you must apply for an employment authorization for him/her at the same time.

Under no circumstances should you leave for Canada until you have received confirmation from Columbia Bible College that you have been admitted and until you have obtained your entry visa and study permit. It is not possible to change from visitor to student status within Canada - you must leave the country to do this.

It is important for International students to be aware that Columbia's admissions requirements are consistent with rules set by the Government of Canada regarding students coming from other countries to study in Canada. One of the most important things that students from outside of Canada need to be aware of is the requirement to provide proof that their financial needs (including tuition and living expenses) are fully covered before entering Canada. Please refer to the the Immigration Canada website for more information on study permits, student visas and employment eligibility.

Students who have earned 30 credit hours or more at another post-secondary institution will be evaluated for admission based on their post-secondary GPA. A minimum of a 2.0 (60%) overall GPA is required. Conditional Admission may be granted to transfer students who do not meet these requirements. Such decisions will be made at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.Only courses completed with a minimum grade of C (normally 65%) will be considered for transfer credit to Columbia.
